Brittany Haby, Rockies manager of baseball research, leaves ballclub

Brittany Haby, the Rockies’ manager of baseball research, has left the team.

A major league source said that Haby and the club “mutually agreed to part ways.” Cory Little, the Rockies’ senior director of communications, confirmed Friday that Haby is no longer with the ballclub but added that the Rockies don’t comment on employee personnel matters.

Haby joined the Rockies in 2018 as part of the MLB’s inaugural Diversity Fellowship Program and was promoted to manager of baseball research in August 2021. Haby worked directly under Brian Jones, who became Colorado’s research and development director in 2022.

Haby’s role was to help out in multiple areas of the baseball operation, including game-planning, advanced scouting, researching trends and helping prepare pitchers and catchers.

This is not the first time in recent years there has been a major shakeup in the Rockies’ analytics department. During spring training in 2022, they fired director of research and development Scott Van Lenten just six months after hiring him away from the Nationals. There were “major disagreements” regarding Van Lenten’s role with the club, sources said at the time.
