The Avalanche announced it has re-signed forward Ben Meyers to a one-year contract on Wednesday.
The deal is for $775,000, according to league sources, leaving Colorado with approximately $2 million in cap space for the 2023-24 season.
The 24-year-old has tallied five goals in 44 games over the last two seasons for Colorado. He is projected to center the team’s fourth line and was one of Colorado’s more proficient players in the face-off, winning 51.3% of his matchups last season. He also recorded 24 points (six goals and 18 assists) in 30 games with the Colorado Eagles, the Avs’ AHL affiliate.
The 5-foot-11, 194-pound Meyers was undrafted but signed a two-year, entry-level contract with Colorado following his senior season at the University of Minnesota. That season, he scored 41 points (17 goals and 24 assists) in 34 games and was named a Hobey Baker Award hat trick finalist.
The Minnesota native also represented Team USA at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, where he had four points (two goals and two assists) in four games.
