A woman died after being struck by a Cadillac sedan while she was crossing East Montview Boulevard on Tuesday morning, according to the Aurora Police Department.
The crash marks the 61st traffic-related fatality in Aurora this year, the most traffic fatalities Aurora has recorded in a single year. The 2022 total of 50 traffic-related deaths was the previous record, according to spokesperson Joe Moylan.
The crash was reported just before 8 a.m. Tuesday at of East Montview Boulevard and Dayton Street. Investigators believe the woman was crossing Montview mid-block when she was struck by a silver Cadillac sedan driven by an Aurora man, police said in a news release Wednesday.
The woman was transported to a local hospital and later died from her injuries. Her identity will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
The driver of the Cadillac is cooperating with the investigation, and speed and intoxication are not suspected to be factors in the crash, according to Aurora police.
