Speeding motorcyclist in Aurora crash dies days later at hospital

A 21-year-old Aurora man died Saturday from injuries suffered when the motorcycle he was riding crashed with a van.

The incident happened about 10 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Chambers Road and East Moncrieff Place, according to an Aurora Police Department news release.

The driver of a Toyota van was turning north onto Chambers Road from Moncrieff when the van was struck by a Kawasaki motorcycle that was southbound on Chambers, police said.

The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, was speeding when the crash happened, according to police. He was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and died Saturday morning. His name will be released by the Arapahoe County coroner’s office.

A police traffic investigation into the crash is ongoing. The incident is the 29th traffic-related death this year in Aurora.
