Pedestrian, 83, hit by motorist in Aurora dies at a local hospital

An 83-year-old woman was hit by a motorist and later died, Aurora police said Tuesday.

The incident happened at about 7:05 a.m. Tuesday on East Alaska Place near South Worchester Way, police said in a news release.

The pedestrian was crossing Alaska Place, going from the south side of the roadway to the north in between South Wheeling Street and South Worchester Way, when she was hit by the driver of a Honda sedan, police said. The driver remained on the scene.

The Honda was heading east on Alaska Place, police said. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead a short-time later. An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone who witnesses the incident or who has dash-camera footage of the crash, and who has not talked with investigators is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 (STOP).

Tuesday morning’s incident is the 33rd traffic-related fatality in Aurora this year, according to the APD.
