Grand County authorities have called off their search for missing kayaker Ari Harms along the swelling upper Colorado River.
Harms, of Edgewater, last was seen when he entered the river in an inflatable kayak at Hot Sulphur Springs on May 28, authorities said.
And “after speaking with Ari’s family” Sunday night, “we have made the difficult but necessary decision to suspend official search operations until the conditions of the Colorado River change in the upcoming weeks,” Grand County Sheriff officials announced in a posting on Twitter.
Searchers over six days found Harms’ backpack and other belongings in the river. The officials asked that anybody with information contact sheriff dispatchers at 970-725-3311.
