AdventHealth Porter hospital in southeast Denver has reopened for acute and emergency clinical care services after a boiler system failure forced a 10-day closure, hospital administration announced Thursday morning on its website and in a news release.
The hospital, located at 2525 S. Downing St., closed to patients Oct. 30 when the facility lost heat and hot water following the system failure. Elective procedures will resume Monday, Nov. 13.
Two permanent boilers that were repaired and a temporary boiler installed Nov. 1 have been online for the past several days, said Rachel Robinson, regional director of communications and public relations, “providing redundancy for the hospital.”
Less than 15 patients will be transferred back to the hospital after they were moved elsewhere during the shutdown, she said.
“We anticipate our census ramping up given a full procedural and surgical schedule next week and through the holidays,” Robinson said.
