A man charged with first-degree murder for a fatal stabbing in Federal Heights was apprehended in Mexico, according to a Thursday announcement by the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
The Adams County District Attorney’s Office charged him on Jan. 5 with first-degree murder, according to previous reporting by the Denver Post.
Adrian Carracedo-Vega, 35, is accused of stabbing Sachely Diaz on Dec. 30 outside the Tuscan Heights Apartments, 1700 W. 85th Ave., in Federal Heights. Carracedo-Vega fled the scene, officials say.
Diaz died at a hospital after the stabbing. Police believe she and Carracedo-Vega knew each other.
Carracedo-Vega was apprehended thanks to the FBI Safe Streets Task Force. According to the DA’s office, he will be extradited back to Colorado shortly.
