Rockies outright Ty Blach, Karl Kauffmann, Matt Koch as offseason roster shuffle begins

The Rockies’ offseason roster shuffle has begun.

The club has outrighted lefty starter Ty Blach and right-handers Karl Kauffmann and Matt Koch.

Blach and Koch are eligible for free agency, but the Rockies are interested in re-signing them as non-roster invitees with invitations to spring training. Kauffmann struggled in his debut season, going 2-5 with an 8.23 ERA in 11 games, including three starts. Kauffmann will revert to a minor-league contract.

Blach, 32, was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque to try and plug a hole in Colorado’s injury-riddle rotation. The Regis Jesuit graduate went 3-3 with a 5.54 ERA in 20 games. Koch, 32, went 3-2 with a 5.12 ERA in 39 games (one start).

Last week, the Rockies outrighted Right-hander Matt Carasiti, infielder Harold Castro and catcher Austin Wynns to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Colorado’s 40-man roster now sits at 34, enabling them to clear all five players from the 60-day injured list after the World Series.
