DIA experiencing over 2-hour ground delay due to ice and snow

Denver International Airport is experiencing an over two-hour ground delay for flights due to ice and snow.

The airport said the average delay is about 158 minutes, according to an airport post on X.

The Denver metro area could see up to 12 inches of snow by Sunday during the first winter storm of the season, and hundreds of flights in and out of Denver International Airport are delayed and dozens are canceled so far.

As of 4:45 p.m., 764 flights were delayed, and 84 flights were canceled; departing flights make up the majority of delays and cancellations, according to the flight tracking site FlightAware.

Regional airline SkyWest has most of the cancellations with 60 flights canceled. United Airlines has 10 canceled flights.

United and Southwest airlines have most of the delayed flights; United has 246 and Southwest has 265. SkyWest has 104 delayed flights.
