One man has been pronounced dead after being backed over by a dump truck on a construction site in Brighton near East 144th Avenue and Primrose Circle at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning, according to a news release from the Brighton Police Department.
No one else was harmed in the collision.
According to the release, the department’s initial investigation into the incident revealed that an individual operating a dump truck ran over another worker while traveling in reverse. The 46-year-old driver was arrested for careless driving causing death, but was cooperative with law enforcement and showed no signs of impairment.
The 65-year-old victim was unresponsive to officers upon their arrival, according to the announcement. Commander Monce Portillo confirmed via phone call Friday that officers responded within minutes of the call.
The incident occurred at the construction site of a housing development. The investigation is ongoing.
