Lobster rolls, whoopie pies and Maine Beer Co. beers coming to Boulder

The restaurant: Maine Shack Boulder, 2010 16th St. at Pearl Street, in Boulder

About: This location of Maine Shack, which also has outlets in Denver (including stations in Coors Field and Empower Field at Mile, as well as in Florida and at Fenway Park in Boston), is owned by founder Drew Ryan and partners Eric Pirritt and John Caprio, both of whom worked for the Fox Theatre in Boulder. Pirritt was most recently with Live Nation’s Rocky Mountain Region.

What’s on the menu: A variety of Lobster Rolls, including the Lobsterado, a butter-poached lobster tail on top of a brown butter roll and a clarified butter Connecticut lobster roll. You’ll also find whole-bellied fried clams, lobster mac and cheese, clam chowder, blueberry hand pies and whoopie pies. The ingredients are “sourced directly from the Gulf of Maine, including … a rotating catch of the day flown in fresh multiple times a week,” according to the owners.

Maine and New England-style beers will be on tap, including selections from Maine Beer Co., Narragansett, Oxbow, DownEast, and a proprietary Maine Shack Beer brewed by Denver’s Diebolt Brewery. There will also be specialty cocktails, like a Lobster Bloody Mary.

More: There will be a full bar, craft beer program, large outside patio and large-screen TVs for catching Colorado and New England sporting events. The decor features buoys, driftwood, lobster traps that have been fashioned into lighting fixtures, vintage signage from New England.

Opening: Friday, Nov. 3.  A portion of proceeds from the opening weekend at both Boulder and the Denver LoHi locations will be donated to the Lewiston-Auburn Area Response Fund to help the victims of the recent mass shooting around Lewiston, Maine.
