A goat that had been locked inside a car in Arapahoe County with no food or water was rescued over the weekend by sheriff’s deputies.
The goat, named Nibbles, was seized by authorities Saturday afternoon in the 10200 block of East Peakview Avenue after they received a call of animal cruelty. Sheriff’s deputies had already issued a warning about the goat’s treatment to the owner of the vehicle on March 7, though it isn’t clear if the goat had been cooped up inside the car since then.
In a post on Facebook Sunday, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said the goat was found locked in a cage inside the vehicle Saturday, with no food or water and a window that was “barely cracked open.”
Officers brought the goat to the Dumb Friends League, which said it would do a full workup on Nibbles to assess its health before finding a place for the animal to live. The owner of the car was issued a summons for animal cruelty, a Class 1 misdemeanor.
