An early morning crash on Interstate 70 killed a man walking along the highway and injured three motorists, Denver police said.
The crash involved multiple motorists in the eastbound lanes of I-70 near Interstate 225, the Denver Police Department posted on social media at 3:16 a.m. Sunday.
According to the police department, paramedics pronounced one person dead at the scene and transported three others to a local hospital.
In a 7:30 p.m. update, the Denver Police Department said the man who died as a result of the crash was a pedestrian walking along the highway.
The driver who struck the pedestrian remained on scene and was arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence.
Eastbound I-70 remained closed at Peoria for five hours Sunday as officers investigated the crash. As of 8:15 a.m., all lanes of traffic had re-opened.
