Search and recovery efforts for the body of a 19-year-old who went missing in the Arkansas River early Wednesday morning were suspended Friday because of severe weather, sheriff’s officials said on social media.
Devlin Cambeul went missing on the river early Wednesday morning and search and rescue crews have not yet been able to find his body, Sheriff Shawn Mobley said in a Friday afternoon update on Facebook.
La Junta firefighters rescued another man from the river early Wednesday morning in an unrelated incident, the Otero County Sheriff’s Office said in a post on X.
Search crews including boats, aircraft and drones began searching for Cambeul along the Arkansas River down into Bent County on Wednesday, Mobley wrote on Facebook.
