Douglas County man arrested for child sex exploitation for third time

A 35-year-old Douglas County man was arrested for sexual exploitation of a child for the third time, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Stacy Garrett Suppeland previously pleaded guilty to felony sexual exploitation of a child in 2013 and 2020, according to court records.

He was arrested again Tuesday for sexual exploitation of a child after “a very intense investigation,” sheriff’s officials said in a news release.

“Our priority remains the protection of our children and the enforcement of justice, and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety of Douglas County residents,” Sheriff Darren Weekly said in a statement.

Suppeland pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a child in 2013 and was sentenced to a lifetime of intensive supervised probation, according to court records. Five other counts of sexual exploitation of a child were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

In 2020, Suppeland pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and was sentenced to 16 days in jail and 15 years intensive supervised probation, according to court records. Two other exploitation counts were dismissed.

Suppeland is in custody at the Douglas County Jail on a $500,000 bail and is set to appear in court Monday.
