A 44-year-old man died after he was found unresponsive in his cell at the Larimer County Jail on Saturday, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.
A jail deputy found the unresponsive man at approximately 8:15 p.m. while conducting routine inmate status checks, the sheriff’s office said in a news release Monday.
Additional deputies and medical staff responded and were able to resuscitate him, and the man was taken to a hospital where he later died.
The man was alone in the jail cell, according to the sheriff’s office. His identity will be released by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office.
