Two lanes of eastbound Interstate 70 were closed in Wheat Ridge for emergency bridge repairs Tuesday afternoon, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Eastbound I-70 over Kipling Street was reduced to one lane of traffic for repairs to the road surface, CDOT spokesperson Tamara Rollison said.
The closure will continue through the evening rush hour.
One lane of northbound Kipling Street is also closed.
Workers are repairing a pothole that formed on the I-70 bridge deck over Kipling “due to freeze-thaw damage,” CDOT officials said.
Drivers should take alternate routes or expect heavy delays in the area, CDOT said.
This is a developing story and may be updated.
