Northbound U.S. 85 reopened near East 104th Avenue on Thursday after what Commerce City police called a “massive crash” involving a semitrailer and a dump truck.
The police agency, which is handling traffic control as the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado State Patrol investigate, characterized the crash as a multi-vehicle hit-and-run in a post on social media at just after noon Thursday.
The highway initially was closed in both directions. Southbound lanes reopened after about 45 minutes and northbound lanes reopened after two hours.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
