When will Denver see its first 80-degree day in 2024?

A stretch of warm weather nearing 80 degrees is coming to the Mile High City this weekend, according to a National Weather Service meteorologist.

Warm, dry weather in the upper 70s and low 80s is expected in the Denver area Friday through Sunday. Mild morning temperatures in the upper 40s will warm to around 80 degrees in the afternoon, NWS meteorologist Jim Kalina said.

Friday is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high of 79 degrees and a low of 47 with wind gusts up to 16 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service. The forecast is similar on Saturday, with a high of 77 degrees and a low of 47 with wind gusts as high as 24 miles per hour. Sunday is expected to be sunny with temperatures peaking at 80 degrees with a low of 46 that night.

On Saturday, wind gusts up to 24 miles an hour combined with the dry, warm weather could lead to increased fire concerns, especially in the plains east of Denver.

In mid-April, temperatures in the Denver area are usually in the low 60s. Kalina said that although this weekend’s forecast is around 15 degrees higher than typical April temperatures, it’s not unusual for Denver to see stretches of warmer weekend weather followed by mid-week storm systems.

Cooler temperatures will appear on Monday, with a slight chance of showers and a high of 71 degrees. Temperatures will continue to drop throughout the week, with a high near 58 and a chance of rain and snow showers expected on Wednesday.

Denverites can expect consistent warm weather around 70 degrees in late April.
