Colorado Avalanche sign forward Anton Blidh to one-year deal

The Colorado Avalanche added another depth forward to the mix with the signing of Anton Blidh to a one-year deal, the club announced Wednesday.

The 27-year-old appeared in 32 games for the Boston Bruins last season, accumulating a career-high nine points (two goals, seven assists). Selected 180th overall in the sixth round of the 2013 NHL draft, the 6-foot-1, 197-pound Blidh has played in 70 games over six seasons with the Bruins.

Blidh has spent much more time with Boston’s AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins, racking up 88 points (46 goals, 42 assists) over 278 career games. He has five points (four goals, one assist) in 25 postseason contests.

A native of Molnlycke, Sweden, Blidh skated with the Frolunda organization in his home country before making the jump overseas.

The Avs still have approximately $3.91 million in cap space available for the 2022-23 season, according to capfriendly.com, with prized center Nazem Kadri still unsigned.
