Maybe the Rockies are feeling the same way, because they are hosting Bears Night at Coors Field on Friday, Aug. 19, when the Rockies take on the San Francisco Giants.

Denver Modernism Week’s bounty
Friday-Aug. 28. The return of Denver Modernism Week is a comforting reminder that, yes, some of our favorite events are actually sticking around in this shaky cultural moment. The Friday, Aug. 19-Aug. 28 extravaganza gets press for its 30-mninute walking tours of historic and architecturally significant homes and neighborhoods, but there’s so much more.
Think behind-the-scenes tours, lectures and panels; themed events (1950s prom, anyone?); the Miss Modernism Pageant; modernism market; vintage car and camper shows; and let’s not forget Friday’s opening night party — the Tutti Frutti Tropical Twist — with pop-culture firebrand Charles Phoenix.

Sun Valley’s food bounty: Haitian, Vietnamese and more
Saturday. Help bring some light and energy to Sun Valley at the second West Denver Rising Viaduct Night Market, taking place just to the south of Empower Field at Mile High under the Colfax Avenue viaduct. Since the neighborhood is one of the city’s most diverse (with more than 30 languages spoken) and home to local chefs and entrepreneurs from around the world, the market will include a diverse array of artisans, vendors, culture, music and food.

Down in Denver is all local
Saturday-Sunday. Presenting itself as the authentic Denver music experience, the Down in Denver festival returns to the Larimer Lounge this weekend for its second installment of marathon sets, featuring nearly 50 acts on two stages.
Co-creators and scene veterans Kitty Vincent, Marie Litton and Michael Trundle have booked another who’s-who of Colorado indie musicians and experimental comics, from up-and-comer Unicorn Hits to groups spanning the last couple of decades, such as headliners Dressy Bessy and Pink Fuzz, and lovable local comedy/performance-art weirdos like Magic Cyclops and Andrew Novick.
