One killed, three wounded in shooting in Denver’s Sunnyside neighborhood

A man was killed and three other people wounded during an early morning shooting in Sunnyside Sunday, according to Denver police.

One man died and a woman and two girls were wounded, police spokesman Nate Magee said Sunday.

Police responded to the shooting at 12:54 a.m. in the 2700 block of W. 42nd Avenue. Officers found all four victims with “suspected gunshot wounds,” police said. Residents in the area were initially asked to stay inside, but Magee said Sunday there is no ongoing threat to the public.

He could not say whether the victims were related to each other, whether they were found inside or outside of a home, or who called police. He declined to offer any more details about the shooting.

“The circumstances are still under investigation at this time,” he said.

On Tuesday the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner identified the fatal shooting victim as 41-year-old Rudolph Jimenez Jr., in a news release. Jimenez died of a gunshot wound and is manner of death is a homicide.

The other victims have not been identified. An investigation is ongoing.
