Ice fishing, demystified
Saturday. Have you ever wanted to give ice fishing a try but didn’t know where to start? Then Colorado Parks and Wildlife has an answer to that question. The department will host an ice fishing clinic at Kriley Pond at Golden Gate Canyon State Park on Saturday, Jan. 21.
“All the necessary equipment will be provided for you, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer,” organizers said. All participants 16 and older must have a valid Colorado fishing license; an annual or daily state parks pass is also required to attend this clinic. Celebrate the Chinese New Year
Saturday. 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit, and Chinese New Year, which is Jan. 22, will be celebrated at a variety of events all around the metro area. Here are a pair of places to enjoy.
The Chinese American Foundation of Colorado and the Denver Chinese School host their 18th annual event at Denver’s George Washington High School, 655 S. Monaco Parkway, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There’s a culture fair, food, entertainment, music, arts and craft, games, costumes and more. Also on Saturday: Jade Mountain Brewery & Teahouse, at 4233 S. Buckley Road in Aurora, brings back its Lunar New Year Celebration and Night Market from 2 to 8 p.m. In addition to a variety of food and goods vendors all day, as well as “pop-up chefs,” there will be Kung Fu demonstrations at 2:30 p.m. and Lion Dancers and 3 p.m.

Colorado’s best pinball players unite
Saturday. Colorado is home to some of the world’s top-ranked pinball players — including global No. 1 player Escher Lefkoff — which makes us the home of one of the most exciting pinball championships in the world.
On Saturday, Jan. 21, The International Flipper Pinball Association brings the 8th annual event (the series finale) to Lyons Classic Pinball. The free and open-to-the-public event features players fighting for some of the $170,000 prize pool and bragging rights for the state’s pinball wizard.
