After 20 years the Budweiser Events Center is just about down to its last drop as the northern Colorado multi-purpose facility will have a new name this fall.
The Blue Federal Credit Union (BFCA), serving more than 115,000 members in Colorado, Wyoming and worldwide, will take over the naming rights of the arena in October when Budweiser’s naming rights expire, according to a BFCA news release. The facility, in Loveland, will be known as Blue Arena.
“As a well-known staple in Northern Colorado, we are thrilled and honored to partner with Larimer County and to have the Blue name on The Center,” said Stephanie Teubner, BFCU president and CEO, in the release. “Blue has been serving communities for 70+ years, and we’re proud to be a key partner in this exciting project that will benefit our members and the community. We are confident Blue Arena will not only serve as a community gathering space but also as an important economic driver for the area.”
The arena is home ice of the American Hockey League Colorado Eagles. An array of events is held at the center including concerts, theater, shows, graduations, rodeo and other professional sporting events. Events for the Larimer County Fair are held in the arena.
The arena, located within The Ranch Events Complex (formerly the Larimer County Fairgrounds and Events Complex) is owned by Larimer County and managed by Spectra Venue Management.
The facility will be renamed Blue Arena with a 10-year naming rights agreement, the release said. An agreement with Larimer County was finalized Tuesday. The Budweiser contract expires on Sept. 30.
The arena can seat more than 6,000 fans for sporting events and up to 8,000 at concerts.
BFCU was originally chartered in 1951 as the Warren Federal Credit Union by a group of civilian personnel at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, according to the credit union’s website. In 2016 it merged with Community Financial Credit Union and became known as Blue, a nod to its U.S. Air Force blue roots.
