A second juvenile who was wounded in a Feb. 5 shooting at a Falcon subdivision has died, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office announced.
According to an online news release posted Thursday, the juvenile victim died of their injuries. It was not clear when the victim died, and no other information about the victim, including their identity, exact age or gender was included. The release also did not state the nature of the victim’s injuries.
Previous reporting indicated that four people were shot in the incident and that a fifth person was “injured in another way.” A juvenile who was among the four shot died Feb. 5. That victim also has not been identified.
The shooting happened just before 1 a.m. on Feb. 5 in 12200 block of Point Reyes Drive, a subdivision in Falcon, northeast of Colorado Springs.
El Paso County Sheriff’s Lt. Deborah Mynatt said that day that the shooting was likely to be linked to a carjacking that happened Feb. 3 near Potter Drive. She said there are multiple suspects in the shooting.
Officials with the sheriff’s office on March 1 said investigators had identified persons of interest in the shooting and that the victims and suspects knew each other. The shooting was an isolated incident, according to a news release.
“The absence of information provided to the public does not mean the investigation has slowed down,” the release stated. “We want to assure you there is no known continuing threat to the public from this incident.”
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 719-520-7777.
