A man wanted by police for tackling Dinger, the Colorado Rockies baseball mascot, has turned himself in to Denver police.
Dinger, a fuzzy purple triceratops with a bright yellow beak, was dancing on top of a dugout at Coors Field Monday during a game against the St. Louis Cardinals, when a man tackled the mascot. The employee inside the costume was evaluated by medical staff at the ball park and was not seriously injured. The rowdy take down was captured on cell phone videos and posted on social media.
Denver police, on Thursday, tweeted a photograph of a man holding a beer and identified the person in the picture as a suspect in the unusual case. Police asked for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
Investigators contacted the suspect by phone and the 45-year-old man turned himself in to police on Friday afternoon. He was cited for investigation of assault and disturbing the peace.
