A man died Sunday night after being pulled from a lake in Denver’s City Park.

Police and Denver Fire’s water rescue team responded around 9 p.m. on a report of a person in the lake near 17th Avenue and York Street, police said on Twitter.

“Party seen going underwater and did not resurface,” Denver fire said Sunday evening on Twitter, adding that divers went into the water to find the individual.

The man was eventually transported to the hospital, where he later died.

Police have launched a noncriminal death investigation, authorities said. The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
