Monday will be the warmest and driest day of the week, topping out at 91 degrees, and things will get wetter and cooler on Tuesday evening — just in time for Fourth of July fireworks shows.
The National Weather Service is calling for a warm sunny day Monday, with isolated showers and thunderstorms in the mountains. Tuesday will start off with sunshine before chances of afternoon showers and thunderstorms climb to 40%, with a high temperature of 82 degrees.
Forecasters say rain is likely before 9 p.m. Tuesday, with “showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 9 p.m. and midnight, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight.” The chance of rain Tuesday night is pegged at 70% and temperatures will drop to the mid-50s in metro Denver.
That will lead to a cool and potentially wet Wednesday, the weather service says. With mostly cloudy skies forecast, the day after Independence Day won’t even reach the 70s, topping out at 68 degrees with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Starting Thursday, a more typical weather pattern will settle in to close out the week, with partly sunny days in the 80s and chances of thunderstorms and showers.
