The Interstate 25 southbound HOV ramp into downtown Denver at 19th Street is reopened after Denver police worked to “contact a person on the overpass.”
The Colorado Department of Transportation reported the closure of the express lane “due to police activity” about 8:30 a.m., and the Denver Police Department confirmed they are on the scene in a 9:20 a.m. tweet.
“(The Denver Police Department) is in the area of 19th & Wynkoop working to contact a person on the overpass,” the tweet stated. “The I-25 HOV lane SB into downtown is closed.”
CDOT traffic video showed multiple emergency personnel at the scene both at ground level and on the overpass. Vehicles that were on the ramp at the time of the closure were allowed to turn around and merge back onto Interstate 25.
CDOT at 1:43 p.m. Wednesday announced the reopening of the ramp.
Denver police, at 2 p.m., said the person on the overpass was hospitalized.
